Lieber Herren!
Several months ago I started a project to build seven racing circuits based on the real streets and roads through and around the capital cities of Caribbean islands. I took my inspiration from a fellow member at NoGrip, rasfigjohn, who lives in Guadeloupe and works in Basse-Terre. Another source of inspiration was the Tasman Series of races run in Australia and New Zealand during the winter "off seasons" of the 1960s.
All seven circuits have been designed and laid out using Bob's Track Builder (BTB). I've just released version 0.93 of the Basse-Terre circuit (see links below) and will release version 0.9 of the Kingston, Jamaica circuit in a few days. The other venues are Nassau, The Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago; and Havana, Cuba. All will first be released as BTB-only betas, then gradually refined and enhanced in 3DSimEd and/or 3DS Max. All seven raceable betas will be released before the end of the year.
My original concept included using Supercars as the carset for the series. I looked to the ongoing WSGT team effort and hoped it would be comprehensive and ready for public release by the end of the year. However, in our continuing discussion, the group of fellow simracing enthusiasts I've recruited to help me has come around to the idea of making the Caribbean Series a "spec" series, and
we've concluded your PCC2005 mod offers the best combination of a fine "canvas" for Caribbean sponsor skins and a frame rate and physics-friendly car for racing on our somewhat wild and rough public roads Caribbean circuits!
Therefore, I would like to formally ask permission to use your PCC2005 car/template for our Caribbean International Championship Racing Series.Respectfully,
John McDaniel
